Summer 2025,
June/July
A busy couple of weeks recording two terrific new viola concertos. First with the wonderful Royal Scottish National Orchetra in Glasgow was the epic 47 minute concerto by Robin Stevens, a passionate and dramatic four movement work which included my first meeting with ⅓ tones! A week later I was in the beautiful town of Olomouc (Czech Republic) with the Moravian Philharmonic who handled the exciting and colourful music of Steve Elcock with skill and enthusiasm. Thanks to both orchestras and conductors Paul Mann and Kenneth Woods and the great recording teams. Both works will be released by Toccata Classics shortly.
August in China
My third annual visit to Xi’an for the Xi’an International Art Week. An intensive week of masterclasses and concerts and the opportunity to meet fellow players and teachers from China and elsewhere. Many talented students, distinguished teachers and great food.

A photo from my recent concert in Krakow, Poland with the Sinfonietta Crakovia.
A new departure for me, conducting works by Takemitsu and Nicholas Maw, plus playing John Woolrich’s Ulysses Awake for viola and 9 solo strings and joining the orchestra’s violas in the première of a new work by Joanna Wnuk- Nazarova. Working with super musicians in one of the most beautiful towns in Europe.
