I shall be teaching at Solsona again this year, together with my friend and colleague, Andriy Viytovych. Last year was the first time we did the course together and we had 14 young viola players from all over the world working together.
A special feature of last year’s course as a result was a strong emphasis on viola ensemble work including a world première of a work by John Hawkins specially written for us.
The many opportunities to perform and to work with both of us we hope will make it a very enjoyable course.
Solsona is a lovely little medieval town set in wonderful country, the concerts, given by the students and the professors, take place in a variety of venues in the area including some stunningly beautiful old churches.
Last years' violas, pictured below, performed: Bach, Rebecca Clarke, Enescu, York Bowen, Telemann Brahms and Bridge at concerts during the course.
